How C4X Delivered a Seamless IT Takeover for Sydney BMW

In December 2023, AMG Group acquired Sydney BMW and needed to complete a full IT takeover. The dealership had to move off BMW Corporate systems and onto an independent domain — all without interrupting business.

For a busy luxury dealership, downtime wasn’t an option. Security couldn’t be compromised. And staff needed to walk in on day one and log in as if nothing had changed. This is when they reached out to us at C4X.

The Challenge:
A High-Stakes Deadline

The dealership had days, not months, to stand up a brand-new IT environment. Every system — from staff logins to Wi-Fi to critical business apps — had to be migrated, upgraded, and secured before customers walked through the door.

The risks were real: downtime, lost data, or systems not being ready when staff needed them. AMG Group needed a partner who could plan meticulously, work quickly, and execute flawlessly.

The Approach:
Plan, Test, Deliver

C4X began with a rapid audit of the existing environment, identifying what could be repurposed and where new infrastructure was required. From there, we mapped out a staged migration using what we call a “seed and slide” approach — running critical services in parallel while building new systems, then sliding users over once everything was tested and stable.

Our team worked through overnight shifts to minimise disruption, ensuring staff arrived to a fully functional IT environment the very next day.

At every stage, we balanced immediate stability with future scalability, so AMG Group could easily integrate additional dealerships down the line.

“The team were very like-minded. They had the same type of agenda in mind that we had — to be the best at what we can do. And that shone through for me with Cloud4x.”

The Solution:
A Complete IT Transformation

Domain Migration & Infrastructure Upgrade
Sydney BMW was successfully moved from BMW Corporate’s domain to their own independent domain. New routers, switches, and Wi-Fi systems were installed, with network resilience designed in — including automatic failover if one system went down.

Custom Application Integration
One of the toughest challenges was integrating the dealership’s electronic document management system. C4X built a bespoke cloud-based solution to bridge the gap, ensuring secure and seamless access without compromising compliance.

Modern Management & Microsoft 365
Every device was brought under Modern Management, giving staff single sign-on access across AMG Group dealerships. Microsoft 365 Business Premium was deployed, consolidating email, collaboration, and security into a single, consistent ecosystem.

Security & Access Control
C4X hardened the environment with application controls, automated asset discovery, macro protection policies, and restricted network access. Wireless networks were secured through Intune Mobile Device Management, with authentication managed via AWS.

The Outcome:
No Downtime, Stronger Security, Future-Ready

The full migration was completed on schedule, with zero downtime for staff or customers. Sydney BMW now operates on a resilient, secure IT environment designed to scale with AMG Group’s future growth.

  • Speed: Migration and modernisation completed in record time
  • Security: Stronger protections against modern threats
  • Resilience: Redundant network design ensures uninterrupted operations
  • Scalability: Environment ready to onboard additional dealerships

“It was very evident — from the boss to the lower levels — that everyone was eager to help. The thing that shone through for me was the ability for the senior team to get their hands dirty, which is an ethos that we have at Sydney BMW.”
